I don’t know why, but any time we celebrate a holiday or special occasion, it makes me immediately think on and start planning the next one on the calendar. This weekend was my husband’s birthday, and it made me realize that the next holiday will be Mother’s Day!

My husband is usually a pretty good gift giver, but sometimes he needs a helping hand. I find that I’m always ogling specific and unique things online and secretly hoping he somehow can read my mind, find it on the vast internet, order it in time, and surprise the heck out of me. Has that ever happened? No. Why? Because as much as we want them to be, men are not mind readers. There you go, cheris– it took me eleven years of marriage to come to that conclusion. You’re welcome.

So, I have found it important to share “ideas” with him (to which he sometimes takes the bait, and sometimes goes rogue and comes up with his own ideas). But, if I want something bad enough, I try to make it known. Because it’s nice to be delighted with the thing you really wanted, and because husband’s need ideas.

So, I thought I would create a shopping list for the maman in your life: the classic, chic, France-loving mother who gave you life and worked dang hard to take care of you, and deserves something a little refined and sophisticated for Mother’s Day.
